Lisa Olivia Munn grew up in Oklahoma City. Kimberly Schmid is of Chinese descent and lived within Vietnam. Her father Winston Barrett Munn is from an American family which has deep roots in America's South. Olivia's parents separated at the age of 2. She grew up with her mother, who worked in the United States Air Force, and also her stepfather. Although the family was spread throughout the world, her principal place of residence was Tokyo, Japan. At the time, she took part in numerous performances of the local theater, as well as becoming a Japanese fashion model. Olivia moved to Los Angeles when her family finally moved back in the United States to follow her aspirations of becoming an actress. In the end, she was able to land a couple of small roles in TV series featuring Hawaii lenses (such like Beyond the Break), she was cast in the show Mily Acuna, and was offered the job of Rob Schneider's receptionist on Big Stan. The G4 podcasts include "The Daily Nut" and "Formula D". After the television series Beyond the Break, she has continued to surf. She has also earned a black belt for taekwondo. At the age of two, her mother remarried. She was married a US Air Force serviceman. In spite of the fact that family members moved around lot, her mother was raised in Tokyo which she shared with the military. She studied journalism in the University of Oklahoma and also minored Japanese, dramatic arts and drama.
